User Testing

User Testing working plan

We did the user testing after completing the High Fidelity Prototype. We asked some of the users who were a part of our contextual inquiry to test out our application. We used Figma Mirror for testing the High Fidelity Prototype. The users were asked to use the different functionalities of the application and put forward their problems or suggestions. We have compiled  all the problems and possible solutions below. The user testing helped us gain insights on the existing design of our application and understand the features that need to be redesigned.

Tests

Test 1

Problems:

1. Not sure if social media sites are for signing in or creating an account on the login screen.

2. The talk with the seller icon Is not very clear on the description page.  

3. There should be a filter on the home page for easier use of the app.

4. The buyer and seller distinction on the chat screen is not very clear.

5. No page to check notifications.

​

Solutions:

1. The login page will have a clear indication that the social media sites are for sign in.

2. Will have text saying talk to seller near the chat icon to clarify the purpose.

3. Will add a filter on home screen to check specific products.

4. Will add clear text to distinguish between seller and buyer on chats screen.

5. There should be separate page or screen where all the notifications are seen in the app

Suggestions by user:

1. A save for later option should be provided in the cart.

2. Edit the add product details color screen as it is merging with the background.

3. Up for rent option should be kept next to the rent option.

4. Flow of manage account can be altered and change of password option can be kept towards the end.

5. The reset password can show forgot password on the email confirmation page.

6. In create your account page, the email option can be given after the username option.

Test 2

​

Problems:

1. No cross on the 'Menu' to close it.

2. No back button on some of the pages.  

3. Having Notifications on the Profile page is not very useful.

4. 'Sort by' option is not available.

5. When user clicks on 'Buy' they are directed to the sellers chat, but on clicking 'back' they cannot go back to 'Product page', they are redirected to all the different chats of the user.

Solutions:

1. Add a cross on the menu or make it narrower so that user knows that tapping outside closes the menu.

2. Add back buttons to all pages and link them appropriately.

3. Have a bell icon on the top navigation for notifications.

4. Provide a 'Sort by' option, for users to sort products by 'price' or 'time of listing'.

5. Determine a flow where user can go back to product page from the sellers chat page.

Suggestions by user:

1. Make the Product photo and its price more in focus on the product description page.

2. Add filters for search

3. Provide a field where seller can mention preferred payment method, instead of having user to chat with them.

4. Instead of asking for users location, provide a way to specify the location for each individual product i.e where it is available.

Test 3

​

Problems:

1. Back from chat should go to product page, not chats. 

2. Sell the product - picture is smaller and details are larger 

3. Clicking on back from Menu of bedroom does not backtrack to previous page 

4. Search bar occupies too much screen space 

5. Renting option is confusing - does not understand if user wants to rent or it is an option to put for rent

Solutions:

  1. Grids for menu can be made bigger 

  2. In profile - my products should be in list rather than boxes 

  3. Drop down for manage account instead of taking to new screen.

Suggestions by user:

  1. Sign in, sign up, forgot password, instead of sign in, in that order. 

  2. Pictures of product should be in squared boxes 

  3. Lot of blank space on ‘up for rent’ screen

  4. There should be back option in change password in profile 

​

Test 4

​

Problems:

1. There is no evident back option in the hamburger menu.

2. There is no search call to action after the inout of keywords.

3. There is no 'Filter' in the home and products page such as price range or featured items.

4. There is no "move to wishlist" in the cart.

​

Solutions:

  1. Providing 'back' options in the profile tab and also the menu tab.

  2. Providing a call to action button with search to direct the user to the products page.

  3. Providing 'Filter' and sort options in the home and products page.

  4. Providing a "save for later" button to move the product into the wishlist from the cart.

​

Suggestions by user:

  1. The price of the product listed in the products page can be on the top of the description rather than below it.

  2.  The 'seller' icon in the seller chat page can be removed as it does not serve any purpose.

  3. A close button in the menu tab can be added.

  4. The images of the product in the product page could be sized up to have a clear vision of the product or a zoom in option can be provided to look closer at the product.

Next Iteration 

After our user testing and considering the feedback and suggestions from our users we are planning to do the following new changes/features in our application.

- Providing a method to make payments through the app.

- Adding a wishlist or save for later option.

- Making the navigation better by adding back buttons wherever necessary.

- Add a notifications page to display notifications.

- Adding a filter on the home screen and products page.

- Adding a sort feature to sort according to user preferences.

- Make the UI more accessible by resizing text and images.
